our story
FibreWerks, founded in 2022 in Brooklyn, is a technology and manufacturing company focused on natural-fiber-composite building products and associated manufacturing equipment. The cofounders draw upon their expertise in architecture, bio-based materials, mechanical engineering, and advanced manufacturing to develop commercially viable next-generation, low-carbon building technologies. Materials derived from agricultural feedstocks such as hemp and flax, used for reinforcement, and bioplastics (e.g., PLA, PHA, bioepoxy), used as the matrix, are the company’s focus. Products and equipment currently under development include hemp/thermoplastic rebar and minibar used in reinforced concrete, and a peeling decorticator for bast fiber plants.
